Challenge: The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, and each year, the Webby People's Voice Awards garners millions of votes from the Web community all over the world. In the lead up to this year’s launch, the Webby Awards Executive Producer and external development team were confident of functionality and content accuracy, but wanted additional quality assurance given the stature of the Webby Awards and need to ensure a perfectly functioning site across all browsers and devices.
Action: ULTRA deployed a Rapid Response team consisting of an Engagement Manager and 2 Testers within a week. The team immediately developed a clearly defined Test Plan for cross browser functionality and design testing, got up and running on the client’s native issue tracker (Unfuddle), and set up QA milestones. They began working seamlessly with the client's development partner by embedding into their QA process using an agile board, documenting bugs and verifying fixes, and continually adjusting focus based on emerging development needs and evolving client priorities.
Result: Within a week, the ULTRA team had increased the overall bug detection rate by 20%. By the end of the engagement, 87% of the bugs discovered by the ULTRA Testers had been assigned a normal to high priority by the development team. Within 2 days after launch, ULTRA completed ticket cleanup and provided a wrap up report to close out the project.
"As the Webby Awards, we want things to be perfect and need our site to work across all platforms at all times without any issues. Getting an ULTRA team engaged saved us a lot of time and effort, and the process was easy and great. The ULTRA team delivered a level of QA (quality assurance) that I have never seen in my 14 years of web development, and this year, we've had fewer issues with our platform than we've ever had before. Working with ULTRA was a no brainer".
